What does the term ‘needs’ mean to the average person today, and how does it differ from one person to another?

Have you ever evaluated the term ‘needs’ mean to the average person to day?  Is it important or just neutral? Many people are confused about the difference between needs and wants. In Cambridge dictionary, the needs are defined as the state of having to have something that you do not have, especially something that you must have so that you can have a satisfactory life. For that reason, the needs lead people to a comfortable life or give them the motivation to reach their goals.  To everybody, daily necessity plays an important role in the human’s need; such as clothes, foods, drinks…  However, depending on different situations or circumstances such as peace and adversities; the needs people direct toward are not as same as each other.
During peaceful time, the term ‘needs’ means to the average person today is the essential things to help them to survive such as food, water, clothes, money to survive without those they may die or at the very least suffer needlessly. However, have you asked yourself that would you have a satisfactory life if the foods, water, clothes and money are only the things you need? As a result, in peace, people also need the electricity for using, house for staying; articles of daily necessity such as detergent, shampoo…Those things can be defined as the daily necessaries or a part of human life. In sum up, in the peaceful time, the level of the human’s needs is highest; people need more things than they thought and also cannot deny the importance of them in peace.
When people go through the adversities, their view of needs would change by circumstances. As a result, people need fewer things than the peaceful time and the level of needs is lower. During war time, people must suffer the losses, the scare; the enemies…Those reasons lead every person to think the different way about their needs. To soldiers, who bring the heavy responsibilities to protect and fight for their country; so the most important thing they need is weapons; food and drink are just lower important than them. Why? This is because they would die easily if they do not have the weapons during the battles. How can they protect themselves without any guns in their hands? ... On the other hand, about the citizens, who do not have ability to oppose. If you are in their situations, what you would need? Maybe food, water and the safety places are those which help them survive during war.
We also can see how the people’s view of needs after natural disaster. With the devastation of Tsunami, Earthquake, hurricane etc, they destroy everything. For that reasons, people have to suffer the losses, the injuries, the misery … At this time, Japan is a good example let us know what the victims really need after natural disaster by the international aids. Medicines, foods, drinks, blankets… and the reception stations are the necessaries coming to them. The ability of the aid is limited, that lead the level of the human’s needs is low. For that reason, the victim cannot require as much as they need.
It is concluded, the term ‘needs’ mean to the average person today is something people must have so that they can have a satisfactory life. Those things include foods, drinks, clothes, money…However, the needs of every person are not fixed; they are depended on different situation or circumstances. On the other hand, there are only two things we need in any situations. Foods and drinks are two most important things to help people survive anywhere.
